Emma Smith

Emma is an associate in the Disputes Group of our Toronto office. She is a J.D. graduate from Queen’s University. Prior to law school, Emma obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with Distinction at Queen’s University, majoring in Political Studies and minoring in Global Development. Emma is also a classically trained ballet dancer, having previously spent time at the National Ballet School of Canada. Alongside her studies at Queen’s, Emma served as a Case Worker for Queen’s Legal Aid, assisting clients on a variety of matters involving the Landlord and Tenant Board, Social Benefits Tribunal, Small Claims Court and Ontario Court of Justice.

Emma has also been involved with Pro Bono Students Canada as a Project Lead for a research project on the National Housing Strategy. In 2020, Emma co-founded Queen’s Cannabis Law Club (QCLC) and served as Co-President for QCLC and Queen’s Environmental Law Club. Prior to joining Osler as a summer student, Emma summered with a litigation boutique specializing in medical malpractice, professional liability and personal injury cases.
