On October 29, 2019, Wataynikaneyap Power announced the close of financing for the Ontario Grid Connection project, Osler acted as counsel to a syndicate of lenders. The project will connect 17 remote First Nation communities in Northern Ontario, to Ontario’s power grid through the construction of 1,800 kilometres of transmission lines, with a goal of eliminating the reliance on financially unsustainable and environmentally risky diesel generation.
