On May 8, 2022, Northern Graphite Corporation completed its acquisition of the producing Lac des Iles graphite mine (LDI) in Québec from a subsidiary of Imerys SA and the Okanjande graphite deposit/Okorusu processing plant in Namibia from a subsidiary of Imerys and its joint venture partner. The acquisitions will provide Northern with 40-50,000 tonnes per year (tpy) of graphite production capacity in Québec and Namibia, which will make it the third-largest non-Chinese natural graphite producing company.

Imerys is the world leader in mineral-based specialty solutions for industry.

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP advised Imerys with a team consisting of Niko Veilleux, Marisa Corona, Véronique Fortin-Latreille, Joshua Blatt (Corporate), Julien Ranger-Musiol (Pensions and Benefits), Jeremy Perron (Employment and Labour), Nicole Cloutier, Natasha Vincelli and Caroline Stephens (Real Estate).
