On July 28, 2021, Vancouver-based Spark RE Technologies (Spark) announced the closing of a US$5 million Series A investment round led by BDC Capital and Pender Ventures, with participation from GroundBreak Ventures. This marks a significant step for Spark and the real estate industry as its goal is to own the entirety of new real estate development transactions, both in North America and globally.

Spark was founded to streamline the sales, marketing, and management process for real estate developers. Created as an industry-specific CRM, Spark is transforming how new multi-family real estate is sold by offering a comprehensive suite of products that eliminates the need for multiple platforms.

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP acted for the investor syndicate of BDC, Pender and GroundBreak with a team consisting of Mark Longo, Jacques Du Plessis, Martin Smith (Emerging and High Growth Companies), Megan Young (Corporate), Adam LaRoche, Abigail Ywaya (Employment & Labour), Dov Begun and Alina Khakhuda (Tax).
