Osler is pleased to welcome Brad Gilmour to the firm’s Regulatory, Indigenous and Environmental practice group as a partner based in Calgary.
Brad specializes in complex regulatory and environmental approvals for some of Canada’s largest and most important projects, advising clients across the energy, natural resources and related industries. One of Canada’s leading and most sought-after environmental lawyers and an expert in Canadian environmental assessment law, Brad advises some of Canada’s largest corporations on regulatory compliance matters, spills and contaminated sites, including advising senior corporate officers and board members on the nature and extent of risks to their companies, how to ensure compliance, and in response to environmental investigations and enforcement.
Last year, Brad was part of a team representing the Government of Alberta in the landmark Supreme Court of Canada case that found the federal Impact Assessment Act unconstitutional in part. He regularly appears at the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board, the Canada Energy Regulator and other regulatory bodies, as well as before various courts across Canada.
“We’re very excited to add Brad’s deep insights and unsurpassed experience to our group in Calgary,” says Doug Bryce, Osler’s National Managing Partner. “With his steady hand navigating ever-evolving and complex environmental regulations, we’re better able to help our clients move their projects forward and accomplish their business objectives.”
