Jay is a partner in Osler’s Real Estate Group and his practice focuses on a variety of real estate matters, including purchase and sales transactions involving office, industrial and retail properties, mortgage financing, ground and office leasing, and development and planning matters. He also provides real estate advice relating to complex commercial transactions, including conventional and renewable energy infrastructure, project and other financing, and share and asset purchase transactions.
Jay advises a wide range of clients, including renewable energy companies, financial institutions, pension funds, life insurance companies and other institutional developers, lenders and investors.

- The purchaser on the acquisition of The Bow office tower in Calgary, Alberta
- A German open-ended real estate fund on its $500+ million acquisition of the commercial portion of Stantec Tower in Edmonton, Alberta.
- IG Mackenzie Real Property Fund (formerly Investors Real Property Fund) on its $140 million acquisition of an office building in downtown Calgary, Alberta, and related assumption of the existing mortgage facility
- Brookfield Office Properties Canada (through its subsidiaries) in connection with its $575 million term credit facility to be used for the construction of Phase 1 (East Tower) of the Brookfield Place Calgary development in Calgary, Alberta
- SEC LP (a subsidiary of Brookfield Office Properties Canada) and Arci Ltd. In connection with their $550 million senior secured bond financing of the Suncor Energy Centre in Calgary, Alberta
- An institutional manager and its investor client on the disposition of an industrial portfolio in Calgary for a sale price in excess of $60 million, with vendor take-back mortgage financing
- An institutional manager and its investor client on the disposition of a portfolio of retail properties across Alberta to multiple purchasers in 2022 for an aggregate sale price in excess of $50 million
- An institutional manager and its investor clients on the disposition of a portfolio of office buildings in Calgary to multiple purchasers in 2022 for an aggregate sale price in excess of $40 million
- Renewable energy developers on their negotiations of solar and wind farm leases in connection with greenfield projects in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario
- Renewable energy developers in preparing lease and purchase template agreements for use in greenfield solar and wind development projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan
