Osler is proud to announce that Victoria Creighton, an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department, has been selected to receive an Osgoode Alumni Gold Key Award in the “One-to-Watch” category. This prestigious award honours Osgoode Hall Law School alumni who graduated from the JD program in the last 10 years and who demonstrate: high levels of achievement early in their chosen career; outstanding leadership ability; and a recognizable contribution to the Law School and/or the community at large.
Victoria’s practice is focused on commercial and corporate litigation in taxation, class action defence, construction and competition. Before law school, Victoria worked as a management consultant for Accenture and as an engineer at the Petro Canada Oakville refinery. She also taught ethics and professional responsibility in the Faculty of Engineering at Queen’s University.
Victoria is committed to making a difference in her community and her profession. She is a member of The Advocates’ Society where she has served on the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee (YASC) for the past six years. In June, she will become the Chair of YASC, leading a national committee of 40 advocates who will run more than 50 events and initiatives across Canada.
Pro bono work also plays a critical role in Victoria’s professional life. She sits on the board of the CLASP, the legal aid clinic of Osgoode Hall Law School and has acted as counsel for the United Nations Secretariat and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. She has worked on Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Small Claims Court Duty Counsel Projects with Law Help Ontario. Throughout her career, she has continued to volunteer with the United Way, the Fort York Food Bank, the Second Harvest, Sick Children’s Hospital and Engineers Without Borders.
Victoria’s achievements will be celebrated at the Dean’s Annual Alumni Reception on May 16, 2018. Congratulations Victoria!
